Urbina Gran Reserva Especial 2001 Maybe the greatest Rioja of all time, well we both were blown away. We tasted this at the SITT tastings and it's complexity and elegance was a highlight of the day. TASTING NOTES Delicate cork, should be opened with Ah-So, Two-Prong Opener VISUAL Dark ruby color, middle layer with a thin mahogany trim. NOSE Complex nose, splendid maturity, mineral aromas, ripe fruit, figs, cherries and plums, tomato jam and dried apricots, cigar box, cherry blossom, harmonious and well defined spicy hints of cinnamon, vanilla and clove. Some leather, snuff leaves and nutmeg. Musk, incense and kola nut. Base of toffee candy, and balsamic notes, fresh and elegant. Very Complex and Amazing. PALATE On the palate harmonious and balanced oak and fruit tannins, great elegance and velvety softness, with a wonderful length that is appreciated.

TASTING NOTES VISUAL Ruby red with purple hues. NOSE Good intensity aromas of which highlights the fruits of various kinds with good maturity and expressiveness, flowers, sweet spices, toasted flavors and scrubland. PALATE The palate is tasty, with good balance and quite round, also shows vividness and character, fresh and soft tannins, the aftertaste quite well with almost all the aromas of the nose.
